Given the extreme enviroment under which glass moulds are used,
excellent castings are a necessity for high qualiy long life mould
gear. Due to the importance of consistent quality castings, OI
Tianjin invested in a modern on-sight Foundry. This gives us a huge
advantage over other Mould manufacturers in that we can directly
control the quality of our castings and ensure prompt delivery to
our machine shop.
OI Tianjin uses only the proven "96A" formula for
making cast iron castings. This ensures the moulds are extremely
heat, wear, corrosion and fatigue resistant, with one set being
able to deliver more than One million bottles. We also smelt
Silicon Bronze (minox) on sight to manufacture Moulds, Bottom
Plates and Neck rings for use on high speed machines. Should
customers require, we also import Nickel castings to manufacture
specialised Guide plates, Plungers and Baffles. In addition to our
own quality inspection of every batch we also send monthly casting
samples to USA for external verification of our quality.
In order to maintain high casting quality, the melting temperature,
chemical composition, martix structure and hardness are strictly
monitored via a computer controlled spectrometer. This German spectrometer
allows us to analyse up to 20 chemical elements in only 30 seconds.
Our Foundry workers are very experienced with an average of 11
years experience each. Capable hands in control of modern
equipment and quality raw materials ensure our castings are of the
highest quality.
